Boss hunting is the most reliable progression loop in Evony: The King's Return — stamina in, materials, general XP, and event points out. The bottleneck was never stamina; it was finding bosses worth hitting. This guide covers the loop end to end in 2026.
Boss levels and what they're worth
Bosses range from level 1 to 14. Roughly:
- Levels 1–5: low-cost warmups; good for new keeps and daily boss missions
- Levels 6–9: solid material drops; efficient once your march can one-shot them
- Levels 10–12: the sweet spot for most mid/late-game players — best drops per stamina
- Levels 13–14: the big rally bosses — these take a full alliance and are usually coordinated as scheduled rallies rather than solo hunts
The inefficient way (what most players do)
Log in, open the map, drag around hoping a boss appears, march to one that's 40 km away, come back, repeat. Thirty to sixty minutes a day gone, and half the bosses you find were already dead on someone else's screen.
The efficient loop with iScope Recon
- Open the Bosses tab in iScope Recon.
- Filter to the level you can actually farm (11–12 for most players).
- Enter your keep coordinates and a radius — 10–20 km is ideal for march-time efficiency.
- Sort by distance and work top to bottom; every row shows live coordinates.
- When your stamina pool is spent, you're done — no searching time at all.
Because Recon scans continuously with its own accounts, the list is fresh every time you open it. No more marching to a boss that died ten minutes ago.
Rally bosses (13–14): coordination wins
Level 13–14 bosses need multiple full marches. The workflow that works:
- Scout with Recon during the day and mark rally targets directly from the map.
- Announce the rally window in your alliance chat.
- Auto-start the rally on schedule with iScope Auto so the rally opens at the exact minute — fill rate is everything on big bosses.
Stamina math: why distance matters more than level
A level 11 boss 5 km away beats a level 12 boss 45 km away once you count march time and the daily window. That's why the distance filter is the most-used feature in Recon — it turns boss hunting into a route, not a scavenger hunt.
Free vs paid for boss hunting
Free accounts track bosses up to level 12 — which covers the entire efficient hunting loop for most players. Levels 13–14 (rally bosses) and named special monsters are part of paid plans.
FAQ
How many bosses can I kill per day? Depends on stamina regen and items; most active players clear 20–40 bosses daily.
Do bosses respawn? Yes — defeated bosses respawn elsewhere on the map after a cooldown, which is why a live tracker beats a saved list.
What about event bosses? During events, dedicated event monsters appear — see the event monsters guide.
